A study conducted by the American Heart Association revealed that about 400,000 people die in the US each year due to lifestyle factors such as obesity and poor diet. In 2000, 60% of deaths globally were attributed to chronic diseases. This is an increase from the previous year, which saw 60% of deaths attributed to these diseases.
