Working Days Calculator
How many working days are left until a deadline, or how many did a project take? Counting on a calendar is slow and it is easy to miss a weekend. This calculator takes a start date and an end date, counts every Monday to Friday between them including both ends, and subtracts the public holidays you enter.
The count is exact: it walks the real calendar rather than estimating five days for every seven, so a range that starts on a Saturday or ends on a Sunday comes out right.
Formula
- calendar days = end date − start date + 1
- weekend days = Saturdays and Sundays in the range
- working days = calendar days − weekend days − public holidays
Example: 1 September 2026 (Tuesday) to 30 September 2026 (Wednesday) is 30 calendar days with 8 weekend days, so 22 working days. With one public holiday on a weekday, 21 working days.
How to use
- Choose the start date and the end date. Both are counted.
- Enter the number of public holidays that fall on a weekday inside the range. Enter 0 if there are none.
- Read the working days. The other two lines show the calendar days and the weekend days that were removed.
FAQ
Are the start and end dates included?
Yes, both. Monday to Friday of the same week is 5 working days.
Which days count as the weekend?
Saturday and Sunday. If your week is different, subtract the extra rest days using the holidays field.
Does it know my country's public holidays?
No. Holidays differ by country and often by region, so you enter the number that applies. Only count holidays that fall on a Monday to Friday; a holiday on a Saturday is already excluded.
Can I count the days in hours instead?
