## How to Calculate Square Footage

Square footage is the area measured in square feet. The same goes for square yardage. It is the area in square meters. A typical measurement of the area is square meters.

You can calculate a rectangular area by measuring its length and width and multiplying these two numbers to get the area measured in squared feet (ft2). You can also divide an irregularly shaped area such as an L-shape into square or rectangular sections and treat them as separate areas. For your total, calculate the area of each section and then add them all together. If you have measurements in different units (e.g., inches and feet), convert them first to feet. Then multiply them together to calculate the area.

## Meters to feet

To calculate square footage, all elements must be converted into feet. 328084 is the equivalent of 1 meter.

1 meter = 3.280844 feet

## Inches to feet

1 inch is roughly about 0,0833333 feet.

## Area of square

The simple formula below can be used for calculating the area of a square:

Area (ft^2) = Side Length x Side Length

## Area of rectangle

The simple formula below can be used for calculating the area of a square:

Area (ft^2) = Length x Width

## Area of a circle

The simple formula below can be used for calculating the area of a square:

Area (ft2) = Pi x (Diameter/2)^2

## Area of a triangle

The simple formula below can be used for calculating the area of a square:

Area (ft2) = (1/4) x square root[ (a+b+c) x (b+c-a) x (c+a-b) x (a+b-c) ]

## Area of a trapezoid

The simple formula below can be used for calculating the area of a square:

Area (ft2) = ((a + b) / 2 )h
